Help us Get to $25,000 – Scholarships for Media Students

Help us endow a scholarship at the Alamo Colleges Foundation and grow it to $25,000 strong! We are seeking 10 organizations to give us $2,500 each. Our scholarship is for any media, digital media, or communication student who attends one of the Alamo Colleges — San Antonio College, Northwest Vista College, St. Philip’s College (HBCU), Palo Alto College, and Northeast Lake View. Together, these colleges serve over 60,000 students.
You can help us reach our goal and donate today to ensure students in our community have the resources they need to be successful. We would love to include your organization’s logo on this page and share your generosity on our Facebook page. Our first donor is KENS-TV!
A bit of our history:
The San Antonio Association of Black Journalists began in the local community in 1998. A group of journalists would gather at a downtown restaurant while debating and strategizing how to get the chapter started. It has been an affiliate chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists since it started.
The small but mighty group of journalists, photographers, and PR pros have consistently mentored and given scholarships to budding journalists, many of whom got their first taste of journalism in the Alamo City. We jumped at the chance to be trainers at the now defunct-Urban Journalism Workshop program at San Antonio College. We helped media students at Sam Houston High School find their voice while producing a newscast. And we consistently trained nonprofits on how to reach the media and write press releases.
We even took a risk and hosted an NABJ regional journalism conference that proved more successful than we imagined. We are proud that we have sustained and have continued to give students scholarships throughout the years. Now we NEED your help!
